The Piermont Flywheel Gallery

22 Ash Street, Piermont, NY

Possessing a strong and clear sense of personal identity has been an important goal throughout my life. Over the years I have found that collage, more than any other medium, has helped me to embrace the vast possibilities, layers, and contradictions of who I am. It has been a grounding comfort in a complicated journey.

With the use of found images, or by creating images of my own through curated cuttings of color, paint, ink, textile, or nature, my work is a piece by piece validation and celebration that I will never be just one thing.

In my creative process, my eyes are always piecing together and arranging the materials in front of me. I’ve learned my eyes need places to rest and settle, they crave interest and excitement, they seek order and imbalance alike. Assembling a collage becomes a game of visual intrigue and a puzzle that is extremely satisfying to solve. Curiosity, exploration, intuition and play drive my work, and I am constantly inspired by others’ creations.

By day I work as a Clinical Social Worker in Private Practice in Oradell, NJ. If I am not working on a collage in my free time, I am probably playing Backgammon or watching The Great British Baking Show with my Husband. It is our constant pursuit of play that bleeds over into my art.

You can currently see a selection of my collages at The Piermont Flywheel Gallery, where I am one of the sixteen full-time artist members.

Thank you for stopping by to view my work. I hope that you will enjoy it as much as I have.
